The supergroup (with stalwarts keyboardist Bob James, bassist Nathan East, and drummer Harvey Mason), add a new guitarist to their line-up, with Larry Carlton leaving and Chuck Loeb stepping in. (Larry Carlton replaced Lee Ritenour, Fourplay's original guitarist and co-founding member).This is the follow up to the acclaimed contemporary jazz quartet’s 2008 Heads Up debut, Energy. Energy grafted a variety of sounds – pop, funk, R&B, and even African music – to Fourplay’s unwavering jazz foundations. In addition to vocals by East, the album featured a vocal track by bass phenom Esperanza Spalding. Energy was #1 on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz Chart for several weeks, and the opening track, “Fortune Teller,” was nominated for a GRAMMY® Award in the category of Best Pop Instrumental Performance.
