Taylor is a television producer working on a low-rated sitcom. He was destined for better things, but his compulsive gambling along with other additions conspired to throw his career off the rails years ago. Now all he does is play the horses, but hides this from his wife Lorraine. Unexpectedly, the couple is called to deal with a family emergency. Taylor's niece Amanda is living in Las Vegas where she's working as a prostitute. Later, while returning home, Taylor’s secret is uncovered and Lorraine announces that she is filing for divorce. Desperate not to lose her, Taylor hatches an ingenious plan to win back her affections and try to convince his troubled niece to enter rehab.
